Question Posted Wednesday December 2 2009, 8:06 pm
So I talk to my coach every single day in her office. She knows all about my past, my drug use, my family, my friends, everthing there is to know about me. I know that she cares a lot about me because i am the only player that she texts on a daily basis, and she is always wondering how my day is going. However, i am her player, and i am 18 and she is 25. I wish everything could work out between us, but i know that it cant. She thinks im psycho, and im her player. I really wish i could tell her, but i know things would be weird after that...what should i do? no one else knows how i feel except my best friend from home who does not know my coach. i dont want people to find out how i feel.

As a former college athlete I can understand where you're coming from. My crush wasn't on my coach as she was close to 50 and I wasn't into her, but I had a crush on one of the assistant coaches. It's a really difficult situation because you get the butterflies everytime they are around, you have to see them on a constant basis, but you must maintain a professional relationship with them. We never talked about what was going on between us and I feel as though it was probably better that way. It may be hard to deal with and it hurts everytime you are around the person because you want them and it's such a messed up situation that you don't think it will be possible for it to ever work out. But if you really care about her, you have to think about how this situation could affect her. In the end that's what i thought about. If she does have feelings for you she could get in a lot of trouble for having a relationship other than player/coach with you. She could lose her job and the respect of the rest of your teammates. I guess what I'm trying to say is I put the crush I had as far out of my mind as I could and moved on to meet new people and am in a great relationship now. I know how hard it is...just keep your head up stay focused on your sport:). It gets better I promise. [ sftblla1313's advice column | Ask sftblla1313 A Question ]
