WOW building up Alchemy and Herbalism

Question Posted Monday November 30 2009, 5:24 pm

Ok so I am a total noobe at WOW but I found out that I can make potions and sell them in the auction house and make gold every day. Only thing is that I don't know how to build up my alchemy skills in order to be able to make these potions. I also heard that I can make viles? I don't know what I can really do but I am a Blood Elf Hunter level 31 right now with Alchemy, Herbalism, Fishing and I just got Cooking and I am thinking about dabbeling in Engenering cause I really like the motor cycle car thing and the goggles. So If you can tell me how or give me a really good resource on what steps I should take to be able to make tangable things and sell them in the auction house that would be great.

You build up Alchemy by making potions, you just use the skill.

Most of the various ingredients for Alchemy come from herbs you find around, google "WoW herb locations" and you should find plenty of resources that list what areas you can find various herbs in, then you just ride around with your locator on and look for dots on your minimap.

Fishing will help as well, though its not entirely neccesary, there are a few recipes that help you level up that need fish, and if you don't want to take the time to fish them you can buy them. I somewhat recommend finding herbs and selling them for the fish, as herb gathering isn't a terrible way to make money. And leveling alchemy is good for lowbie characters, as the many potions can be quite useful, its nice to have a stock of health potions for those random questing emergencies to save a run from the graveyard.

Other than that, go here

That will step by step take you through alchemy so that you know how to do it quickest and easiest, it will tell you what recipes to focus on for leveling and help you get where you're going. I highly recommend doing potions when you get up to the highest levels, transmutes are useful but potions will make you tons of money from the high level raiding guilds who are buying potions for runs 6 days a week, you can gather all the mats and make them yourself and make a pretty good bundle off of certain things, or you can gather herbs and sell the herbs themselves off so others can make things (because herbs are used for more than just alchemy now)

First of all, you can only have two professions, so you can't do engineering without dropping alchemy or herbalism. Second of all, I typically did mining and blacksmithing so I can't help you much. Go to www.wowwiki.com, it's the best website for WoW info and is constantly updated.
