Ok so I heard that you have to alternate every other day. Like if I do crunches and butt today i can't do it tomorrow, i have to do like arms and legs tomorrow. Well I want to know if that's true. I am making it my goal to get into shape at home this winter. It is really a challenge for me to exercise because it's not my favorite pass time, but I really want to be in shape and stay that way and not keep yo yo-ing, so don't give me complicated stuff please. Here is what I am doing: I am doing about 20 min of ballet/gymnastic streches, 10 min of- ab crunches (moving up every workout in intervals of 10-20, i'm at about 75) butt crunches (4 sets of 8 on each side) girl push ups (I'm horrible at push ups right now so I can only do about 10 :P) and the side things for the love handles where you stand straight with feet shoulder length apart and you stick out your arms and you lean from side to side (moving up almost every workout in intervals of about 5-10, started at 30, I'm at about 50 right now) and that's about it for the toning. Then I do about 30 min of bellydancing and club dancing cardio, but my main focus is belly dancing isolations, lots of jumping, arm work and focusing on certain muscles and mini coreographies. So with that said...Can I do those crunches and push ups and side crunches and butt crunches every day or do i have to alternate with something else? Will it keep my muscles from growing properly or something weird? Thank you for the advice. My goal is to have a flat but rounded tummy like how a lot of belly dancers look and to have a rounder butt and to have slimmer arms and to have more slinder leggs and to have longer stamina to be able to coreograph long dances. So I really need to focus on my stomach and my butt. Thanks! Oh I'm already doing the right eating so I don't really need nutrition advice, just body toning advice.

ConfusedX2 answered Sunday November 29 2009, 2:31 am: it won't keep them from growing properly if you do the same exercises every day, you just get better results if you switch off. this is because when you work out, you are actually breaking down your muscles and then when they rebuild themselves, they are stronger. there are acids and stuff being released, and basically long story short your muscles need time to repair themselves. if you keep breaking them down every day they won't have time to rebuild.
