so for a good while now, ive been having a lot of discharge. most of the time its very gooey and pale-yellow. sometimes it even has a tiny bit of a pale-whiteish/green colour, but thats very rare and only lasts for about a day. and it always smells disgusting.
i got one of those home screening tests, and it said i had a yeast infection. but the test didnt have a colour for it if you didnt have a yeast infection. the test is for someone who has a yeast infection, or worse. i'm not exactly sure if i have one or not.
if i did, what can i do? i live a few blocks away from a kroger, but would they have anything there? and if so, what? and would i need a prescription? my mom and i arent on a great level of communication, and i'm embarrassed to ask her. so thanks for anyone who can help :)

AngelKMC65 answered Sunday November 15 2009, 4:42 pm: I get yeast infections often. My yeast infections are normally caused by being on antibiotics or not having enough calcium in my body.
My yeast infections (haven't had one in awhile, yay!) have a "fish" kind of smell, and its awful and there is a discharge like the kind that you get before you period.
The cure, try to eat alot of yogurt, that normally cures the little ones. If that doesn't work go to your family doctor or wherever you go and tell him/her about it. They'll probably give you antibiotics and it'll go away.
If you get it from being on antibiotics there is an over-the-counter medicine that prevents a yeast infection before it has a chance to come.

Infection of the vagina or vulva may cause severe itching, burning, soreness, irritation, and a whitish or whitish-gray cottage cheese-like discharge, often with a curd-like appearance. These symptoms are also present in the more common bacterial vaginosis[citation needed]. In a 2002 study published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology,[where?] only 33 percent of women who were self-treating for a yeast infection actually had a yeast infection, while most had either bacterial vaginosis or a mixed-type infection."
Since you said it doesn't occur much, the fact your normal discharge is "gooey and a pale-yellow" is fine - that's normal. Whenever you get the bad smelling type, ask a doc, as it sounds more like BV, which can be treated with antibiotics or over the counter meds. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
