Calling all FLIRT MASTERS: I need help FAST!

Question Posted Wednesday October 21 2009, 11:19 pm

okay i'll make this as concise as I can:
I am part shy part confident. I can flirt from across the room but freak out when I start talking to someone...
Anyway so there is this guy who FINALLY got the hint that I like him and is showing some signs of interests (he is very very shy). Thing is he works at the library so it isn't really a social environment where we can get to talk and stuff. I asked him questions a couple of times and he's been quite helpful. Today I went to get some research done and got so mad at the noise so I got up very frustrated and was about to leave (I've got a major paper due) and right then he walks right infront of me. Luckily I manged a "hello how's it going" and he said good good you and turned completely towards me taking a go at a potential conversation but being as upset and 'not in the mood' as I was I blew it and cut it short by saying alright thanks smiled and i don't remember if I said something else and left!!! It was a perfect opportunity to start a conversation especially that it seemed like he was strolling around and not busy at the time.
How do i fix this (this might be the second time I accidentally turn him away!!!) he's super shy.
We don't know each other well as I said I only did ask him a couple of questions and all the flirting done was from across the room or non-verbal! I am going back tomorrow so what's a good scenario (emphasis on SCENARIO) to play out ... I can't ask him something else cause he knows that I know everything there is about the library and because he tends to focus completely (or maybe I do??) on the question..... I don't want to make it too obvious that i "ran into him" by accident.....

I like Annie's idea. I would probably end with asking him if he would like to get coffee on Friday (or whatever day, always pick a day). I would pick something casual since he is very shy.

How about this:

You go up to him and apologize for brushing him off.
You: hey, sorry about yesturday. I was not in a very good mood, but that didn't give me the right to kind of be mean.
Him: that's ok
You: you wouldn't think that a library would be so loud, but it was yesturday and let me tell you, it's very hard to get a paper done when people everywhere are being loud.
him: yeah it was kinda loud.... (what ever he would say)

then you can maybe ask him to help you with a question you have
You: so can you help me with something? Asking you is much easier than those other stuffy librarians.
Him: sure....

then ask him you questions. when he is doen helping you ar during the process ask him how things are going. If you start out with small talk then eventually you guys will be able to talk about other things. don't forget to smile and be nice.

Well, i hope that helped or maybe gave you soem ideas.
