UT AND UTMB

Question Posted Friday October 16 2009, 5:22 pm

15/f
soo i live in texas and i'm going to be a pediatric nurse practioner when i grow up. (just a pediatric nurse and the practioner part means i can write prescriptions too) well i have 7 classes a day and im making 5 a's and 2 b's
well to make up for my b's i plan on getting A LOT of volunteer work. well what im trying to get to is do i first go to UT college (for how many years?) AND THEN go to like UTMB?? (for how many years?) because my dad said i just go straight to medical school but that doesn't sound right? so yea im getting pretty confused
and also could you give me as much information as possible about being a Pediatric Nurse Practioner.
(how much i would make in a year etc.)

hey i'm a senior and i'm majoring in nursing too. i'm not sure if i can answer all of your questions cause i don't want to mislead you but i actually want to be a practitioner as well. you don't need med school like a doctor but you need to get your bachelors in nursing (you become an RN first) then you go 2 more years to become a practitioner. so its not as much schooling as you're thinking i'm assuming. $60,000-90,000 is the salary i think...you might want to check that though. and for the language thing, i would suggest taking the same language for multiple years. colleges really like to see that you've took "so and so" language for 4 years or whatever.

oh and i don't really know the colleges that you're talking about because i live pretty far from texas lol sorry.
