How to get rid of a kidney stone at home. Home remedies for kidney stones?
Question Posted Tuesday October 6 2009, 2:13 am
I think I have a kidney stone and it hurts so much. Is there anything I can do at home to get rid of a kidney stone? I would like to get rid of it as soon as possible but I don't know any home remedies or home medications that I can take. I don't want to go to the doctor unless I absolutely have to. I've had kidney stones before. Is there ANYTHING I can do at home by myself so I don't have to go through so much lengthy pain on waiting for it to pass?
honestholly answered Tuesday October 6 2009, 3:24 am: I'm 45yrs old and to date I've had 32 kidney stones.....seriously!( My body over- produces calcium.) and the majority of those I've passed at home. I have no medical insurance so I really have no choice. Anyway, what I've done is drink tons of water and/or cranberry juice and taken painkillers to get through the pain. If you don't have anything to take for the pain be prepared because ,depending on the size of the stone, the pain could become unbearable. I'm not sure how old you are but if you're old enough to drink alcohol, beer is a good kidney flusher too and it will help numb the pain as well. Whatever you do though please don't let it go too long without getting a doctors help--I did that once (3 days) and ended up with a toxic kidney infection that could've seriously caused damage to my kidneys but didn't--thank God. Definitely seek medical attention if you run a fever--that's a sign of blockage and that's bad news. I definitely know the pain you're in and I wish you a speedy "delivery" of that bad boy. :) [ honestholly's advice column | Ask honestholly A Question ]
