Is urine in the blood a bad sign? Is it a sign of chlamydia?
Question Posted Thursday October 1 2009, 7:19 pm
I have been peeing a little blood today and I know it's not my period or anything like that. I was wondering if it was a sign of chlamydia because the guy I slept with two weeks ago just told me like yesterday that he has chlamydia and hasn't been treated for it yet. He was serious. Should I go to the doctor or just let it go away on it's own? It's not a lot of blood or anything and I don't have any signs of a STD so I don't think it can be chlamydia, right?
Did you know that untreated chlamydia in women can cause infertility and increased chances of ectopic pregnancy?
Infertility means you may never have children.
Ectopic pregnancy is when the embryo attaches to fallopian tubes. Those pregnancies MUST be terminated, or it will kill you.
STDs should ALWAYS be diagnosed and treated by a medical professional. The "D" stands for "Disease", and no disease should be left untreated. Now I know you're going to do the wise thing and get tested and treated, correct?
Chlamydia is generally treated with antibiotics, and from what I've read, it is common for chlamydia patients to also be treated for gonorrhea, since it seems the two diseases often occur together.
Did you know that most women don't even experience symptoms of chlamydia? Since you are sexually active, it is a good idea to start having regular STD screens, just to make sure you're in good health.
I don't know how old you are, but if you are a teenager, they can't tell your parents that you are being screened and/or treated for STDs, unless you want them to.
Always use condoms. ALWAYS.
They are the only thing that protects you and your partner against the spread of STDs.
Your local health department should give condoms away free of charge if you need them. (Yes, women should carry them, too. We got to protect ourselves, and can't always rely on the guy.)

Women who have symptoms might have an abnormal vaginal discharge or a burning sensation when urinating. When the infection spreads from the cervix to the fallopian tubes (tubes that carry fertilized eggs from the ovaries to the uterus), some women still have no signs or symptoms; others have lower abdominal pain, low back pain, nausea, fever, pain during intercourse, or bleeding between menstrual periods. Chlamydial infection of the cervix can spread to the rectum.
So yes, blood is a sign, you should go get tested as soon as possible for treatment.
Another reason why you may have blood in your urine is high amounts of calcium, that causes al little blood. But since you're saying the guy you had sex with was tested positive for it, then I suggest you go have it checked out. [ animelove's advice column | Ask animelove A Question ]
