name change on facebook so colleges can't search? i'm a senior, and a lot of my friends on facebook are changing part of their names or last names so colleges won't search for them or something. i don't really understand why though. i mean i'm sure a lot of them have pictures that colleges wouldn't find appropriate, but do colleges actually search for people and judge them based on what they see?

Unless your profile is on super private, if you join the college network, they may be able to at least see your profile picture, if not your profile/parts of your profile/tagged photos of you. If they can only see your profile picture, just make sure it's appropriate. Otherwise, don't add anyone professional. Make a separate account for networking to build connections in the business world. I never understood that either. Plus, there are usually a lot of other people who use Facebook with the same name. It's crazy if they go through all the pages to find someone. Unless they narrow the search by networks. Just set your profile settings to have some privacy. ]
They have no right to judge based on fotos, but if the person accepting the people is an asshole, then yeah maybe. But I wouldn't worry about it, if so you can always fight it. I'm sure you'd win the case in a prejudice type case, over som stupid party fotos, half nudy and so on. ]
