Picture Retakes

Question Posted Tuesday September 22 2009, 5:31 pm

Last year I took my senior picture and it came out really bad, i looked really fat and wore all black which also looked really bad. I'm kind of fat anyway so I know i'll look fat no matter what in the picture but are there any ways to lessen it a little? are there ways to kind of avoid the double chin? what should I wear?

There are lots of ways to look good in a picture.
You have to keep in mind many things.

First, check your posture. How do you stand? If you are slumping, you will be creating unnecessary lumps and bumps on your body, including around your chin area because the fat seeks unfirmed areas to settle in. Stand up tall, put your head up, shoulders back and uncurve that spine.

You can also, improve your hairstyle. Don't have a haircut that rests at the level of your chin, or long hair, because both styles will draw more attention to your chin. Make the hair sit higher, if possible.

Wear a broad, open neckline. This will draw attention away from your neck region.

But, rememeber. Confidence radiates through pictures. If you don't look happy or feel confident while taking the picture, it will show.

First off, let's put the "fat" term to rest. I'm sure you look great just the way you are. Nobody is perfect and I mean nobody! But I understand not liking the way you look in pictures, happens to me all the time.

Pick an outfit that is flattering to your figure, something you are comfortable in. You should feel good in it and it may require some shopping for a new top or a whole outfit. Ask a sales clerk for help picking something out, they have a better idea of what might look good on you. Ask a friend to help you do your hair, or if you can set an appt to get your hair done at a local salon, a fresh hair cut does wonders. Girls- You can get your makeup done for free (yes, free) at department store makeup counters or stores like Sephora (appt may be required). Make sure you get a nice face wash to keep your skin clean and moisturized (yes even boys must moisturize!)

Once your ready for the pictures, sit up straight (very important, slouching makes one look bigger than normal), shoulders back, suck in your belly button a little (helps you sit up taller and look leaner) and SMILE! There is nothing worse than a grumpy photo.

Key- If you feel good about yourself that day it will show in the picture!

Peace & Happiness!
