Getting Marriage License in Iowa, Ceremony in Michigan We are planning on getting our Marriage license in Iowa and it's good for 6 mos and I was wondering if we can still have the Ceremony in Michigan where our family is. I know a judge there and I would like to perform it in MI at a family members house and that way our whole family doesn't have to fly to Iowa...can I do this? Thank you.

I was always under the impression that you have to be licensed in the state you are marrying in.
Best way to get the answer you seek is to call the courthouse.
You'll want to call the Clerk of the District Court's office, which is where you'd usually go to get the license printed up. They'll know for sure, because this is definitely something you want certain answers on. You sure don't want to have the ceremony only to discover you weren't legally married.

you sure can but to be sure contact your court house and ask them but as long as its done with in the 6 months than it should not be a problem ]
