Open this file in Notepad:
C:windowssystem32driversetchosts
To the bottom of that file, add a line like this:
127.0.0.1 google.com
Replace google.com with the site you want to block. Do not include "http", "www", or anything after the com/org/net. There should be no /slashes/ in the address. Don't change the number. Don't remove the localhost entries that are already in the file.
After you've added the sites, save the file and run this command (WinKey+R):
ipconfig /flushdns
If you do not run that command, the sites will only be blocked after you reboot.
Spybot S&D's immunize function and SpywareBlaster will add a large number of dangerous sites to the HOSTS file for you. ]
Yes, go to "Tools" and click on "Internet Options." You will then see a tab titled "Security," click on it, then click on "Restricted Sites." You'll see a "Sites" tab, go there and write down the list of websites you'd like to block. ]
