my brothers go on websites that have viruses on them & they are really bad and they broke our computer even, & they still do it, and my mom won't listen or doesn't really care or understand, whatever. Anyway, is there a way to block certain websites??
To the bottom of that file, add a line like this:
127.0.0.1 google.com
Replace google.com with the site you want to block. Do not include "http", "www", or anything after the com/org/net. There should be no /slashes/ in the address. Don't change the number. Don't remove the localhost entries that are already in the file.
After you've added the sites, save the file and run this command (WinKey+R):
ipconfig /flushdns
If you do not run that command, the sites will only be blocked after you reboot.

You'll see a "Sites" tab, go there and write down the list of websites you'd like to block. [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]
