my friend wants to be in a band with me, so I said, okay. but it turns out, she cant play an instrument or sing that well. how can I tell her this without hurting her feelings?

well since you already said yes, your stuck in a rut
you either have to teach her how to play an instrument
(perhaps keyboard?)

or just explain that you don't think that she can join, although this would be REALLY hard to do
