buying land on the moon

Question Posted Sunday August 23 2009, 3:54 pm

I was thinking- Would buying an acre of land on the moon be a worthwhile investment? I heard that people will be able to live on the moon at some point. How long untill that happens?

I know its improbable that it would happen in my lifetime, but....i guess i could pass it on to my kids? any thoughts? thanks.

That's so cute, haha. Um, I would do it--if it isn't too expensive, and even if it may seem "stupid" or "frivolous", I believe that you should do whatever makes you happy, so if this does I would go for it! It would be a good story to tell the grandkids in 50 years. :P

No, it's not.

It's more or less the same idea of buying a "star." You don't actually get a star named after you, you just get a certificate.

Save your money for something better. A piece of the moon would be a stupid investment.

Why would you want to own land on the moon? You can't live there...there's no oxygen. No one can predict the future, so no one can tell you when, if ever, you can live on the moon. And even if you could, I don't see why it would be a desirable place to live. There wouldn't be any plants or animals or oceans or anything else that makes a planet beautiful. It's just rocky wasteland :/ So no, I don't think it would be a "wise investment". It would be a waste of money, in my opinion.
