So I'm starting to volunteer at an assisted living next Saturday. I don't really know what all I'm supposed to do when I go. I know the main thing is just to be friendly and talk to them, play a card game with them, checkers, chess, bingo, etc., but what all could I talk about with them?

Many will have great stories about their spouses, their children, jobs they have had, so many things. Let them do most of the talking. Whenever you can relate to what they are talking about, chime in. If you see an opportunity to ask for advice, don't hesitate. This can be as rewarding for you as it is for them. Like I'd prob. talk about what they like to do for fun, or the past experiences they've had in their life, just stuff like that. But prob. nothing too personal...unless y'all feel comfortable talking about it? [ Sarryberry420's advice column | Ask Sarryberry420 A Question ]
