So I'm starting to volunteer at an assisted living next Saturday. I don't really know what all I'm supposed to do when I go. I know the main thing is just to be friendly and talk to them, play a card game with them, checkers, chess, bingo, etc., but what all could I talk about with them? (link)
The main thing is to be extremely positive, friendly and calm. They should feel your good mood. Yes they really need to talk much. Ask them about something, and be ready to listen to.
Games is another good thing you can do with them. Don't wait for perfect playing! Scrabble, crosswords, checkers. You may also teach them some modern things, like computer ( I think it could be interesting for some of them). You may even let them play some games on your PC, like checkers ( I know one good site, where you can do it http://freecheckersgame.net/ )
Well, good luck! You're going to do a very noble thing!
