I am on birth control, my period ended two days ago. I have had sex several times in the last few days. After doing it this morning, I went to the bathroom and found that I was bleeding a little bit. At first slightly heavy like a period, and then lighter. Is this a sign of pregnancy or anything I should be concerned about? My period isn't due for about a month so I can't really take a pregnancy test....

Michele answered Saturday August 15 2009, 3:00 pm: If you are on the pill, and you have been on this dose of birth control for a while and it has always worked in the past, then I don't think it is your period. I mean if you have always been regular in the past.
What is could be is simply a cyst on your ovary that broke, from having sex. It is not uncommon, and in most cases is not painful. But you will see a bright red blood for for a short time and then some spotting. Then it will stop all together. Some cysts are painful and can cause all kinds or problems, but others are simply filled with fluid and when they break they leak, but then go away as fast as they came. They are not harmful, and we all have them.
So I think that is what it was and you are OK. If you have no other symptoms, and no further bleeding, then I would not worry about it.
If it happens again, even in a month or so, do mention it to your ob/gyn next time you go. If your ovaries are prone to cysts, that could become a problem, but as far as I know, the cure for cystic ovaries is birth control pills, so your are already doing what you should be doing for cysts.
good luck
