my school rights

Question Posted Friday August 14 2009, 8:50 pm

My highschool has done a lot wrong for me. I left school because my insomnia is terrible causing me to leave school. I had documents stating I needed to be home schooled. For months my school ignored me and my mom about a tutor. We finally got one but then the school failed to give me ANY WORK! My tutor had to make up lesson plans for me. Then the school ignored that work! But yet they have the time to send me a letter to attend summer school. I got my tutor and had to pay her out of my own pocket! I took the MCAS with her and did pretty good since it was in biology and I hadn't had any kind of biology in 8 months due to my school. They keep ignoring me and I'm sick and tired of it. They're just going to keep me back a year but that's not fair! They deff aren't giving me my rights. Who can I call to get my school in some sort of trouble like some education department for the state or something? I live in massachusetts.

Okay, i got suspended from school for 4 months and my mom had to CALL to get work, they never just did it on their own, so if your mother is not calling the school for work, then that might be the problem, if she is, i suggest you call your lawyer. make a court case and get alot of media attention, and you could even get some money out of it if you sue them... you deserve much better.

good luck! let me know how it goes.

theyr diffinitly not giving you your student rights..you need to find your student charters.i live in New Zealand and thats what they call it it has all the students rights in it,let me see if i can find soemthing for you. Get intouch with The Massachusetts Board of Education theyr incharge of all the schools and they give out fundings and set the rules and they pretty much the boss of your school. try find out what your school goal is and your schools charter just google your school name and add the word charter at the end.
Check this wesite out this will tell you your rights as a student
