Males are taught early on in life that being protective and tough is manly. They're taught that if they're not those things that they're not men.
In knowing they've protected someone they feel appreciated, masculine, and proud of themselves. It's just how they're wired. Everyone is going to have pride over something.
Not every girl thinks that a protective boyfriend is caused by jealousy though. If my boyfriend was to protect me, I wouldn't think he was jealous/overprotective. I would actually prefer it and appreciate it. :) [ christina's advice column | Ask christina A Question ]
