This spring I was with a girl for about 4 months. Before school ended I broke up with her; I still liked her a lot, but our relationship was messing things up with me and my friends, school work, etc...I just felt that she felt more strongly for me than I did for her and that I should end things.
Well I miss her, a lot. And now I'm wishing I hadn't ended things. We're still friends, we're on good terms now but I know that I really hurt her this spring, and I know that after I broke up with her she wanted to get back together.
What should I do? Would I be a total ass hole for asking her if she wanted to try things out again... and I don't want to totally embarrass myself if I find out she doesn't even like me anymore. I'm not sure what to do. Help? Should I just IM her or call her? Or just wait till school starts up again....

Screw what everyone else says. It's important for you to be happy. Don't worry about making everyone else happy. If you find that you want to be with her again, just take her aside, and say look, I'm sorry that I broke your heart last spring, I didn't mean anything by it. But I really do like you, and I want to try things out with you and I again. If she says she doesn't want to get back together with you, chances are she still cares about you either way. And at least she knows that you care. And if she does say that, tell her, that you'll be here for her and you will care about her if she ever wants to try again. I would suggest that you do it to her face. It's important to let her know that you DO care about her, and cell phone and email doesn't say much. But the emotion you can show on your face can mean A LOT. :D I hope that helps. At least think about it. [ juliet132132's advice column | Ask juliet132132 A Question ]

you said that she did want to get back with you after you broke up with her, right? if this is the case, and you really miss her, do this
talk to her, in person. go out to luch or something, talk for a little while, get her settled in the conversation, then say
"when we split up, i thought that was what I wanted...and I know I hurt you and Im very sorry. It took being away from you for a while, for me to to realize how much I miss the fun we had together, and I was wondering how you felt about giving US another shot?"
and see what she says. If she seems hesitant, tell her not to decided right this moment. tell her to take her time and think about it. it will show that you respect her let her know that you are serious about trying again and see what she says.
if she was too hurt, and doesnt want to risk heartbreak, and wants to stay friends, then the worst thing she can say is NO.
BUT the fact that she is still close friends with you and hangs around you makes me think that a 2nd chance is exactly what she wants.
do it in person so she can see your face and your emotion. doing it over a text message or an IM may not give the right vibe.

It wouldn't matter if you did it now or during school. Try calling her and tell her to meet you somewhere (best thing to do). Tell her that you're sorry you broke up with her..and explain to her all of what you said in your question, meaning the part about thinking she felt more for you than you did for her, etc. Making sure she know's you're sorry is the most important thing. Tell her how you feel, and tell her you just miss her! She SHOULD understand everything. You said you can tell she still wanted to be together after you broke up, I'm sure she was a little mad at you..but since you're still friends with eachother and everything, it's possible those feelings never left.
Give it a try!
