increase in broadband/telephone package i have been with the same company for internet connection for several years. Orange took over the company sometime ago and i changed my package to Home Max which was $24 per month. apparently my 'contract' has expired and they have increased the cost to over £32 per month. i am a disabled pensioner living on my pension and cannot afford such an increase. is such an increase legal?

Yes, such an increase is legal. It is just like they do with credit cards. One moment they can have it at a 10 percent interest rate, and suddenly they can put it up to a 65 percent increase. Because your contract expired, they are able to do whatever they want to it as long as you are still using your internet provider. I would suggest getting another ISP = Internet Service Provider, or if you do not want to get another one, see if you can't negotiate any changes within the company. ]
