When you are on the Facebook profile of someone who is not your friend, if he or she allows messages from non-friends, there will be a "Send (name) a message" link under the person's picture.
If you send the person a message, he or she will be able to see your basic information (Basic Info, Work Info, Education Info, your profile pictures album, and your Friends List) for a month. ]
On the top right hand corner where you see your name you will see "settings" if you go into "privacy settings" You can block someone you do not want messaging you. Also, it will say "Profile" if you click that there will be options of who can see your profile and who can't. ]
