how do you put a finger through a flame and not get burned?

i've actually put my whole arm through the flames of a fireplace without getting burned.

If you go really fast, like just waving your finger back and forth, it doesn't hurt at all.
Also, some people have thick calluses on the end of their fingers, like a "sewing finger" or whatever. So their skin is really insensitive to heat/cold/needles/etc. Then there's people like my mom, who through various accidents might not have any nerves in their hands at all.
Be careful doing this. You could really burn yourself.
