wow, ive been wondering the same thing for a long time. I think it all depends on the capabilities of the police station in your area.

This is a great idea, and actually I do think that you can text 911. I had a conversation about this the other day, really. I've been told by quite a few people that you can do that, and my guess is you probably can. Now, you probably wouldn't wanna try it out to see if you can, but you could try looking it up or asking a police officer if you happen to run into one.

WOW. I just had this conversation yesterday with my friends. I think that they will, at some point in time, because our generation is all about texting and you're exactly right, what IF you're in a situation where you haveta be quiet ? you cant just call the police and be like, "oh hey, I'm in need of desperate help!" because uhm, duh, for whatever the situation is that you're in, and you haveta be quiet, doing that will most likely automatically screw you over.
It's a great idea and should definetly be put into action. I hope it happens, it'd make everything 10 times safer ... at least, in my opinion. :]
hope i helped, and good question ! xxo.
