She tested negative (both blood and urine tests) and her doctor told her she just had a thyroid condition. If she hadn't demanded an ultrasound, I would have been a complete surprise!
Some people don't gain weight, and may test negative for pregnancy hormones. Other than not getting a period (which can be explained away by a bunch of different reasons), there could be no other way of telling. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]

People can become pregnant and not even know it until all the sudden they are in the hospital saying "OMG, What is wrong with me!" Not all pregnant people show the signs of being so. How this can happen is people who are on birth control and not using condoms...Some don't bother to take a test because they have it embedded in their brians that it is impossible because they are on birth control. You do not have to gain a massive amount of weight over the course of being pregnant...So therefore not everyone shows signs. ;) Be safe!
