Michele answered Monday July 6 2009, 11:11 pm:
Masturbating is not unhealthy in itself, but doing it instead of socializing, being with friends, being with family, doing your school work, etc. THAT is not healthy. If you masturbate each night, after you have gone to bed and after you have taken care of all your responsibilities, then that is no problem.
So are you doing it instead of being involved in life?
I know it feels good, but so does the love and devotion of family and friends. If that is a problem in itself, then that is probably why you are masturbating so much.
Don't let other peoples problems ruin your life.
You know you cannot have a normal life which would involve love, working, play and enjoyment if you spend all your time doing that. You'll miss so much more. You'll miss things that will make you a complete person. A happy person. Well adjusted and involved with friends and loved ones and a career.
Look around at all the adults in your life. (Maybe not those closest to you) If they spent as much time as you do masturbating, they would not be doing things like being your teacher, being your doctor, being the person who fixes your mom's car, makes your dog well when he is sick. Those people took the time to learn and grow and sure maybe some of them also masturbate. And also liked it just as much as you do. But they got busy doing and learning things that gave them more opportunities for their total life. Their adult life. Yes, you'll be there some day. You need something to show for it.
Hope this helps.

There aren't really any "effects", but if you get too addicted and it starts affecting your daily life and relationships with people, that's when it's a problem.
