Model Material?

Question Posted Sunday July 5 2009, 6:41 pm

I've wanted to be a model for quite some time but I've just been really shy to tell people due to having low confidence. (Not to sound full of my self) A lot of people have said I'd make a good model. I have pale skin and high cheek bones. I'm 5'5" but I'm not the skinniest girl and I still have braces (getting them off in about a year). I can take the critisim and all that but I just don't know if I have what it takes..

Most of the time to become a model you need to be between 5'8 and 6 foot. I found this paragraph on an exspert modeling page...

Summary: To be an editorial or fashion model, women will need to be between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet tall, while male models will need to be between 6 feet and 6-foot-2. Shorter models with good proportions should consider parts modeling for arms, hands and legs, using insight from the director of a modeling academy.

honestly, usually models have to be around 5'8-5'9, a tiny bit underweight. i mean, with the face can do good in like pictures and stuff. but with the runway and fashion modelin, i dont think theyd go for it since youre short.
sorry, but they have other oppurtunties for people around your height and modelin

Being a model is of course going to be hard..and if you can take the criticism, then that's definitely a good thing! especially in that business. If your braces are coming off in about a year, that should be no worry then. It'll go by quick. If everyone say's you should be a model, why not tell your parents and ask them about looking in to it? They should support you on it. You can even look in to it yourself. I'm shy too sometimes, so I know how you feel. The only problem might be the low confidence, but you can easily change that. Being the skinniest girl doesn't really matter..you don't have to be ultra skinny or perfect to be pretty or to be a model. Be happy with how you are! Be confident in yourself and tell yourself you know you have what it takes.

Good luck! :)
