I am completely non-flexible! I can't even do some simple stretches! How do I get to be more flexible soon? I don't like stretching but I'll do whatever it takes! What stretches should I do to help improve my flexibility? Thanks!
DearAbby92 answered Thursday June 25 2009, 10:33 am: Practice is really what you need. Flexibility takes time, you won't be as loose as you want in just a week.
Stretch every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to bed. Developing a routine will help you stick with it. Each night you will find yourself a little more flexible, so push it further each time, if you can.
Sit on the floor and touch your toes, or as far as you can go. A good stretch needs to be held for 30 seconds. I know it hurts, but I find that if I hold the pose after a while it stops hurting.
Do each leg individually, and then stand up and try to touch your toes again.
You can attempt a straddle/split and hold however far you can get down for 30 seconds.
I find that kicking each leg in the air as high as I can really loosens me up.
You can try the scorpion pose (holding your leg behind your head with your hands) to stretch your thighs.
You can stretch your arms by holding each one straight across your chest and then elbow up beind your head.
You could try yoga videos (free ones are online) as well.
As long as you have the dedication, you should easily become more flexible.
