okay..so all summer i've been tanning outside..i usually take my strings off my top peice..cause i dont really want tan lines there..
but i've kinda been thinking about going tanning in a booth..but i really dont wanna pay for that..and since i'm not driving yet..i dont have anyway to get there except my mom..and idk if she would take me. but it's free just tanning outside...
I would suggest you lay in the sun if you are going to do one or the other. In the tanning bed, the UVA & UVB rays are concentrated all over your body, so naturally it's probably worse.
anonymous99 answered Friday June 19 2009, 11:50 am: Tanning outside is always better. In a tanning booth your body is being bombarded with billions upon billions of UNHEALTHY UV rays. Yes, you get UV rays from the sun, too. But it's not as many and it's not the only light you get. Think of it like this, would you want to sit in a microwave being pelted with radiation? That's what a tanning bed does, but the radiation level is higher. UV rays are more damaging than microwaves - and MACrowaves are a definite no-no. UV light is just under macrowaves on the chart of damaging light.
Spend too much time in tanning beds over the years and you may develope skin cancer.
FYI - Microwaves and macrowaves are different.
Microwaves are what is used in microwaves to cook from the inside out.

It might take a couple days longer to get the colour you're looking for, but in the long run, it's healthier.
Plus, if you don't have a car and don't feel like spending money, what's wrong with your backyard? [: [ HyperMickiHAhe's advice column | Ask HyperMickiHAhe A Question ]
xosodapopx3 answered Thursday June 18 2009, 1:00 pm: Well, like you said, tanning outside is free :-) also, i think it is more fun, especially if you tan with your friends. Although you can easily get skin cancer outside, you have a much greater risk while you are in the tanning bed.
if you tan fine outside, i would just continue with that, its not worth paying for it. It would probably be easier to just buy tanning oil too from a store to help you out. Good Luck! if you have any other questions, you can always ask me :-) [ xosodapopx3's advice column | Ask xosodapopx3 A Question ]

But non-scientifically, you'll be saving a boat-load of money, both with the fee to tan at a booth and with the cost of gas.
And if she's not going to take you, you might as well just stay at home and do it.
But, don't stay out in the sun for very long, as in a few hours. I would say, at most, an hour at a time. And, don't do it EVERY day. Maybe do it like three days a week?
