a ton of internets popping up

Question Posted Thursday June 11 2009, 12:50 am

Hi i have been having issues with my computer lately. Whenever i open internet explorer a ton of them pop open uncontrollably. So i go to task manager-process-right click and click end tree process and that takes care of it. I ran my virus program (avast and norton) and i dont have a virus. Im not sure what type of computer i have. =/ sorry. All i know is that its slow and a bit older but does have windows XP. Anything would help! Thanks alot!

Norton and Avast never worked for me. I've been using AVG Free for the last little while, and no more issues!

The best thing to do is to start fresh by wiping out everything on your computer. Excessive downloading whether music, videos, sheet music, files, etc this can cause the computer to be slower. You could say that the virus is embedded inside your software so the only way to get rid of it is by wiping your computer clean.

you might be having trouble with some other malware. i find that malwarebytes' anti-malware program is pretty thorough in it's full scan. it found and fixed what sophos, norton, ad-aware, and spybot couldn't find. afterwards, i suggest cleaning your registry with CCleaner. both are free programs and the most effective in my opinion.
