Iron

Question Posted Monday June 1 2009, 11:28 am

16/f So recently i had surgery, and before it i had to get my blood drawn. Well they told me that i was anemic or something and i asked what that was and she told me that i was really low on iron. I was wondering what foods have iron in them. I usually eat healthy foods and i like to be healthy so this kinda bothered me. Any ideas on how to get it up would be appreciated. Thanks =]

The same thing happened to me, and my doctor recommended daily vitamins. Honestly, I'd say to try them. They made me feel better.

As for foods with iron:
- chicken or turkey.
- kidney beans, etc.
- raisins.
- whole grain foods.

I looked up a couple sites for you as well as talked to my friend who is also anemic.

She told me she eats a lot of fish and lean meats, as well as beans and green veggies. She also eats a lot of peanuts and she loves pasta which is great because she now gets whole grain noodles because things with whole grains are good also.

Try out these sites also.
