NoCandy answered Thursday May 7 2009, 8:46 pm: This is most definitely a matter of opinion. Different people prefer different beers, but I will give you my opinion. First of all, I live in the United States. I think of "bad" beer as Budweiser, Coors, Milwaukee's Best, and Busch. When I think of "good" beer, there are good American beers, and there are good imported beers. Not all imported beer is "good". I've never drank a lot of imported beer, though, so I can't tell you much about it. "Samuel Adams" is a pretty decent brand for American beer. My husband and I love "Shiner" beer. One American brand of beer I really like is Leinenkugel's. Boulevard Wheat is a really good beer if you like wheat beer. Anyways, I'm not really a beer connoisseur. It's really up to you to try different brands and see which ones you like. I hope this at least helps a little. The guy who answered before me mentioned a lot of beers from other countries, so I figured I'd mention some good American beers. [ NoCandy's advice column | Ask NoCandy A Question ]
Disconnected answered Thursday May 7 2009, 2:07 pm: I live in a country of beer worshipping.
Stella Artois, Maes, Chimay, Campus, Judas, Desperados, Kriek, Guiness and Leffe are all fantastic beers As is Corona with a lime or a lemon wedge in it, great for hot summer days, as mentioned below. Generally, Belgian and German beers are a safe bet :)
However I don't know where you live, so some of these might not be around where you are.
Bad beers...cheap, watered down beers. I personally think that Heineken is disgusting, but it is loved by many. [ Disconnected's advice column | Ask Disconnected A Question ]
NinjaNeer answered Thursday May 7 2009, 9:36 am: A bad beer has very little flavour of its own. What flavour it does have is overwhelmed by the alcohol. It's the kind that you have to drink for a while before enjoying it (ie you have to be too drunk to care what it tastes like)
Some "bad" beers:
Pabst Blue Ribbon, Coors Light, Budweiser, Canadian, Blue.
A good beer will have a nice, full flavour. It should be enjoyable on its own, without the need for inebriation.
Some good beers:
Rickard's Red, Moosehead, Sleeman, Heineken, most dark beers.
An exception is Corona. It doesn't have much of a flavour, but it is nice and refreshing on a really hot day when you don't want to be drinking a heavy beer.
My suggestion: check out microbreweries in your area. You may pay a little extra, but your beer drinking experiences will be a lot more enjoyable. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
TheTruth answered Thursday May 7 2009, 12:23 am: Bad, as in low quality
Natural Light, Keystone, Miller Light, Budweiser
Good, higher quality
Sam Adams, terrapin, Guiness, Stella Artois
These are debatable. Some people prefer the more watered down American beers such as Miller and Bud, but high quality usually refers to a stronger beer with a more hoppie flavor. It really comes down to preference. Heineken seems to be a good middle ground. [ TheTruth's advice column | Ask TheTruth A Question ]
