The holes in my ear lobes are permanent. They are completely healed and will not close up no matter how long I leave out an earring. The hole does get smaller, but it is still there.
The hole in my cartilage is newer, and has not finished healing. When I leave out an earring, it closes back up and I have to poke a hole back in it to open it up. OUCH, and the healing process starts all over again...
All piercings shrink, but the longer you have them, the longer they take to shrink.

I have my lip done, and I'm sure my hole will be more noticeable if I decide to remove it but it's your nose. The holes for that piercing are tiny. It'll be fine.
