SeemsToBeHappy answered Saturday March 7 2009, 4:40 am: Bronchitis is an inflammation of the air passages within the lungs. It occurs when the trachea (windpipe) and the large and small bronchi (airways) within the lungs become inflamed. Bronchitis is caused by colds or flu's or upper respiratory infection, gone wrong. you may not have treated it with medicine or taken a flu shot etc.
There are 2 types of Bronchitis; Chronic and acute.
Chronic bronchitis can be caused by inhaling irritating fumes or dust. But chemical solvents and smoke, including tobacco smoke, have all been linked to acute bronchitis. Acute bronchitis is often a symptom of the common cold.
What it will do to your body is; the airflow into and out of the lungs is partly blocked because of the swelling and extra mucus in the bronchi (a part of your lungs) [ SeemsToBeHappy's advice column | Ask SeemsToBeHappy A Question ]
