I like you vs. going out the same thing?
Hi!
Why do people think you need to ask someone or be asked "Do you want to go out with me?" or "Will you go out with me?" Can you just start going out with someone, or is it not official if you don't or are not asked? My ex-boyfriend and I decided that we were just going out, but I've heard that you can't go out unless someone asks or you ask someone, is that true?
Oh, and is saying "I really like you" the same as asking someone out? Or is it when both you and the person you're dating think your going out?

Hello,you should never assume you are just going out with somoeone unless the feelings are mutual,because someone can say they really like you and you might not like them as much and you dont want to be in a relationship with them. A relationship is a serious step and if you want to be in one then both you and your partner should feel the same way. If you are unable to portray these emotions of wanting to be in a relationship to your partner then maybe you arent ready to be in a relationship because communication is important. Most people your age usually use the "will you go out with me?" thing. I wouldn't just assume that someone saying they really like you means that you're dating. You don't want to freak them out if that wasn't their intention. If you're not sure, just say "are we dating?".
