Do I Have a Chance With an Older Boy?

Question Posted Friday January 30 2009, 3:42 pm

I really, really, REALLY have a MAD crush on this guy in the 8th grade. I am in 6th grade! He barely talks to me, but sometimes he'll say "bye", help me cheat at cards, and one time he borrowed my pen without asking (because he knows he doesn't need to.. he's so cool!). I think he might like this girl but I hear they're just friends. Do you think that he thinks of me as "some kid"? How do I make him like me, even with the age difference?

Well, this sounds like more of an older brother/friendship relationship. Now, you may be a little disappointed to hear this, but this is actually a VERY good thing. Because let's face it, an 8th grade boy is not going to have boyfriend-girlfriend feelings for a 6th grade girl, and even if he does he will not act upon these feelings... YET. See, if you keep this friendship-and- maybe-more- relationship going, then in a couple of years the age difference won't matter so much (13 and15? Not bad...) and you will already have a relationship base to build from. Just make sure that for the mean time, keep being yourself because its apparently working. Don't try to be loud to get him to notice you because it will only make you look obnoxious and childlike which will bring more attention to the age difference. Be yourself and wait a year or two where age gaps don't so much, where the relationships are taken seriously and much more fun!!

Ah young one...be more courageous. That's the only way for him to notice you. When I was younger I just always glanced at the guy when it was available but thats it. I tried to be louder when I'm around him to notice me. However "wishing" for him to notice me never occured. So don't let this opportunity to fall. All though he is a little older, that doesn't matter. Some guys don't mind. Try to engage yourself. Talk to him more when he talks to you. Ask for his help. Like ask for his pen...might sound cheesy but it possibly could work. He talks to you sometimes, so you could have a chance. Just talk to him and that would build the relationship. Thats the farthest I can go.

sounds like he might have some feelings for you just try to find out its not like a little sister way or a friend.sometimes age matters even though its nothing but a number you cant be 7 years old dating a 13 year old if you know what i mean.and becareful because boys at that age are really interested in sexual activities your too young to lose your innecences boys dont like sluts so wait as long as you can.wish you the best of lucks.

you shouldn't go out with an older guy especially if the age difference is 2 years. and thats that.
but if you really like this guy just be your self and try to become really great friends and let the freindship grow till as long as u want it to.

Hello, well as you have hear age is just a number,it all depends on the connection and the fun you have with a guy when you are together,it is not simply saying I like you. Tbere is a chance he may like you but then again guys get really influenced by their friends when it comes to age differences.Guys usually talk and say wow your dating her she is so young, especially in middle school it is kind of a big deal but when you get older you realize that age is not that important unless you are speaking legally, guys become "alittle" more mature and not as much influenced by there friends as now but there are some middle school guys,a small amount, that might not care what there friends think. About this situation,i dont think you should worry about it too much I think you should just be yourself, you cannot make someone like you,and if you pretend to be someone else that you are not to like you then they may like you for a short period but then your true self will come out and things will change, you can just start with small things like saying hi and bye like he does and or complimenting him,but dont come on too strong it may be a turn off,so all in all go with the flow and be your self, you never know what could happen!:)I hope this helped,if you have any further qustions I would be happy to help you on this topic or any other topic, just send me a private message, the best of luck to you!!!
SINCERLY,DIAMOND:)
