Ripping dvds Can you rip dvd's that are copy protected so you have a back up copy or is there no way to do that?

Commercial DVDs can't be written to, so you can't remove the copy protection from them. You can rip them, though.
DVD Decrypter is easy to use, but very old and not updated anymore. It will work on most DVDs.

DVDFab HD Decrypter works similarly to DVD Decrypter, but it is maintained. It will constantly annoy you to buy the paid version, though.

DVD43 works differently. You need to use it in combination with a DVD ripper. Download:

DVD Decrypter and DVDFab HD Decrypter will only get you the huge, raw files from the DVD (IFO and VOB). To convert them into a manageable format, use AutoGK or Handbrake (above):

Non-free programs like the paid version of DVDFab and AnyDVD will do all of this in one step. I haven't used them, so I don't know how they compare. ]
