Using henna on bleached hair?

Question Posted Monday January 26 2009, 12:52 pm

I really want auburn hair. My natural color is a dark brown.

I want to try henna from mehandi.com, but I recently bleached my bangs and dyed it.

And over half a year ago, I did a lot more to it and after it had faded, I tried to dye it dark brown. But some parts didn't really take the brown very well. It looks a bit green in some parts. And different shades of brown on the top. More noticeable in the sun, but I'm wondering if that'll change the outcome of the henna?

And would I have to do more than one application for it to work?

Have you used henna before? My hair dresser told me that she dyed a girl who had used henna's hair and it turned green and that you aren't supposed to use henna on dyed hair. My mom used to use henna and then she got her hair dyed by a natural colorist and surprisingly, it didn't turn green. So, i wouldn't use henna on bleached or dyed hair. Maybe try some other kind of natural dye, or a natural colorist.
