I've been having stomach problems for a couple months now, and they seem like they are just getting worse. My doctor isn't taking me seriously, and my parents trust that doctor and don't want a second opinion. Here are my symptoms:
- horrible stomach aches and diaharria when I drink diet coke or coffee. I understand this can happen to people, but I used to drink coffee every morning since middle school and at least 2 diet cokes a day. Now a small sip makes me sick immediately.
- acid reflex (or at least that's what my doc said). This makes me nauseas after every meal and I almost always throw up a little bit of my meal because I burp it up. It's uncomfortable and disgusting.
I have been on prevacid for 2 months now, and it hasn't done much. I also take zantac to prevent throwing up because of the acid. Pepto bismol helps sometimes, but not all the time. I even increased my fiber intake because my doctor said it would help but it hasn't done anything! With all of these precautions, I still get sick.
I checked mayoclinic but couldn't find an answer. help? what do you think???
I know you guys probably aren't doctors, but maybe you or somebody you know has gone through this? or you mighthave better luck researching. Thank you to all who reply
Myrrha answered Saturday January 24 2009, 4:27 am: sounds to me it could be a couple things you could get checked out.
1. an ulcer- coffee and soda are high in acid which can cause a stomach ulcer.
2. acid reflux can be caused by the muscles at the bottom of the esophagus to be weak and let acid up.
I think it's more likely an ulcer, but I would get it checked out, it could be something very very serious, like even stomach cancer. But don't get too worried yet, just get more opinions. [ Myrrha's advice column | Ask Myrrha A Question ]
