a lump in the roof of my mouth

Question Posted Monday January 19 2009, 4:45 pm

female/16
I have recently found a small lump in the roof of my mouth.
I don't drink and I don't smoke.
I'm really worried because I have done some research and I have found numerous articles on how lumps in the mouth could be mouth cancer.
I went to a party a few days ago and I did drink a bit and I did have a puff of a cigarette but is very rare as I have never been drunk and only smoked once before.
I'm scared to tell my parents because they don't need to have this to worry about.
Just hoping that someone might be able to give me some advice on what I should do or any idea whether it could be cancer or just something else.

With something that serious you should tell your parents, yeah they're gonna worry but there also going to get you help and get it checked to see if you really have cancer.

If I were you i'd go to like the school nurse or something maby they might know something about it?
and maby they can tell you that way you'd know instead of telling your parents, getting them all worried and then it end up being nothing.

but seriously, you need to tell somebody!!
cancer is something that can kill if you don't get it diagnosed it can spread!!

I hope you the best of luck.
and I hope my advice helps.
if you ever need any advice i'm here:)

We have no way of knowing what it might be.
To dispel a myth, smoking isn't the ONLY
thing that can cause cancer. I am in no
way saying that is what you have. Just
that mentioning this lump to your parents
will NOT have them suspecting you of
any wrong doing.

You do need to tell them, you need to have
it seen by your doctor. You will feel so
much better after you do that.
