It relaxes your muscles and mind so you get a deeper sleep, and your body can regenerate and prepare for the next days lift. However, i'm a bit skeptical on the idea of this supplement. First of all, i'm generally not a fan of sleep aids to begin with. It is a pill that is making our brain release more hormones that will make our bodies tired so we get a "more relaxed" nights sleep, basically by knocking us out cold due to the drowsiness. These supplements mind you, are brand new, cutting edge technology, and have not been approved by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration.) What does this mean? Technically it means that is really shouldn't even be sold on the market. Somehow however, it is; the manufacturer works their way around the law so they can sell it and ultimatley make money. There's a reason that the FDA approves the products on the market, it isn't just for kicks and giggles. As I mentioned before, these "sleeping pills" are brand new technology. Say you take these pills for a good year or so, and say they work fantastic. You have a great, relaxing sleep that night, and the night after that, and the night after that.. and so on.. first of all, this is how an addiction to pills formulates itself. We basically teach our bodies and minds that we NEED it to go to sleep. With that being said, our mind is an extremely powerful device that we don't even know the full capabilities of yet. Just by our mind telling us we need it to sleep, we WILL need the pill to sleep. An example of this was a sociologist who did an experiment on people with the common cold. The doctor gave them pills to take, which he said was a cold medicine, and he told them they would be cured. Little did the subjects know that they were being given placebo's, otherwise known as a sugar pill. have a small portion of sugar and a digestable capsule, you've got yourself a placebo. AMAZINGLY, almost every subject was cured in a much faster time than they would have been simply waiting the cold out. The medicine was doing absolutley nothing physically, it was 100% mental. The mind literally instructed the body to get better and sure enough, it did, with no thanks to the placebo. This just goes to show that if you are sleeping great with this pill, you will sleep like crap once you get off of it. So how do you fix it? Take more pills! Anyone with a functioning brain can tell you that that is simply not the right answer. Second of all.. ...who knows that in 20 or 30 years down the line, your brain won't be messed up because of this supplement. WE DON'T KNOW, that's the scary part about it. Since it is so new, there is no evidence of chronic (or long term) damage from using it. If you start now, 20 years later you may very well be the example people are looking at to say "this product isn't healthy for me," but at that point, it's too late because you're already screwed up. It could be somthing as simple as your sleeping hormones not being able to produce correctly because they demand that pill to work, or somthing as complex as a section of your brain shutting itself down due to that pill. Overall, I say it is not worth the risk to take. The creator's of this pill may say it's the greatest thing in the world to make you sleep better, but in the end, what do they really care what happens to your body? As long as they are getting their money from you, the customer, they are sitting back easy and enjoying it. Sleep is sleep man, a seven hour sleep is the minimum reccommended amount to be dedicated when weight training to get the most out of your muscle rehabilitation during sleep. Seven hours, that's nothing! You can do it without having to take Stemulite before bedtime. Just thinking about the future really can make a difference in your decision. I really hope everything works out well for you! Dave :) [ ThEDaRkEsTSiDe's advice column | Ask ThEDaRkEsTSiDe A Question ]
