Problems with Internet explorer

Question Posted Wednesday December 17 2008, 4:14 pm

Okay so for the passed 3 day I have been having problems with the internet explorer on my lap top. When I click on internet explorer the web page opens (and fully loads) But then a box comes up that reads " Internet explorer raised unhanded exception in third party module and should be closed" I have no idea what that means and it is the only browser i have on the lap top. I really need to fix this because it is the only computer i can Access daily. Please explain carefully I don't really know what im doing.
Thank you so much!!

btw, i can't remember doing anything out of the norm to cause this, and i scanned for viruses without any results

Go to start -> run (or press WinKey+R). Type this and press enter:
appwiz.cpl
Uninstall these if they are installed:
Adobe Flash Player ## ActiveX
Adobe Flash Player ## Plugin
Adobe Reader 9
Adobe Shockwave Player
Java(TM) # Update #
Microsoft Silverlight
QuickTime
Any toolbars that are installed

See if that fixed the problem. If not, go to start -> run (or press WinKey+R). Type this and press enter:
inetcpl.cpl
Go to the "advanced" tab. Click "Reset".

That should fix the problem. If not, go to start -> run (or press WinKey+R). Type this and press enter:
iexplore -extoff update.microsoft.com
Install all available updates. If the update web site doesn't work, try this instead:
iexplore update.microsoft.com

If that doesn't work, follow my guide here:

After the problem is fixed, you can install all of the things that you uninstalled above. Here are links to their download locations:
Flash: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Reader: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Shockwave: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Java: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Silverlight: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Quicktime: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Download Quicktime without iTunes.
