female/14
so me and my boyfriend attempted to have sex yesterday. im not too sure if we actually did it or not.
people tell me that it supposed to hurt like crazy, and the pain would last me 2-3 days. Although i felt the pain yesterday when we were doing it, I feel none today. is that normal?
also when he pulled out, there was blood on the condem. Now i heard of the expression "popped the cherry" and I am wondering if my cherry did pop, or if that was the starting of my period. and how long is the bleeding supposed to lasts?
thanks for helping.

FiayieEss answered Tuesday December 9 2008, 1:05 pm: It does normally hurt girls alot. It hurt me alot, but not half as much as my friends told me (who had to keep making him pull out everytime they tried for about 5 times) - it's random with every girl. The blood could indeed be due to the breakage of your hymen, which, if a virgin still has one (it can be torn by physical exercise like horse riding, etc) can sometimes cause bleeding. Whether it hurts, or whether it bleeds, or whether you even have a cherry to pop, depends on the girl. Mine didn't hurt for more than a few minutes after the experience. We tried it a few hours later, and although it hurt like a burning sensation, and wasn't all that great (he was a virgin too!) it didn't hurt too much like crazy. I remember first time it being very unpleasant for a few minutes, but not overly excruciatingly painful and the pain didnt last. Sometimes girls go away hurting for days afterwards and they just can't manage to even put it all the way in.
So, yes, it is normal for you to feel no pain today!
The blood from the breakage of the hymen can get on your partner so it would explain why it was at the top of the condom. There can either be very little bleeding or there can be substantial but quite light bleeding for a day or so, which you could compare to a kind of mini period. Whether it is your period or your cherry popping, you don't need to worry - it will either be one or the other, likely the latter.
In other words, its all completely normal and you have nothing to worry about - it sounds like your average all-round first time. Don't listen to the scare stories all the time!

2. You tell us. Are you due for your period at all? If not, maybe it was your hymen (if it was, it shouldn't be heavy bleeding and should stop within a day or 2). [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
