Lost my voice

Question Posted Thursday December 4 2008, 11:04 am

okay so on monday i started to feel a little under the weather, just sniffles and that kind of stuff. It got worse and by the end of tuesday i had started to lose my voice. I dont have my singing voice at all and my talking voice fades in and out and is scratchy. I dont have a sore throat, I dont have a fever, and I really dont even feel very sick besides the runny nose and that I'm tired. When im not talking it doesnt feel like im sick but when I begin to speak it just doesnt work. I need my voice back by monday but I dont know whats wrong with me and I haven't had time to visit a doctor. I was wondering if anyone had lost their voice before and what they did to get it back faster. I've been resting it, trying to speak as little as possible but its not showing any improvement. Thanks!

Sounds like your vocal chords are a little stressed. But there may be many reasons why a person's voice goes away. The best thing to do is to MAKE TIME to see a doctor to rule out serious problems. Most likely you'll be ordered to rest and gargle. But it's best to be safe and have it checked so you don't inadvertently hurt it more by using it too soon.

Good luck!

you are doing good by not talking. Don't sing. and just like drink a lot of fluids so that you can get rid of that runny nose, cuz maybe you are in your early stages of getting a bad cold. Just drink tons of water and vitamin d drinks, i think it will help a lot. And take warm/hot showers. It will help a lot. Good luck! i can relate to this a lot. :D
