Question Posted Wednesday November 19 2008, 9:48 am
I am a 26yr old female with 2 children ages 3 and 9. I have been on the depo shot until July'08. I was due for my next shot Aug'08 but I did not get one. I did not have a period for the month of September however I got one Oct 1-4th. The week of Oct 6th I had the white filmy discharge during sex. The week of the 13th I ovulated. On 10/14 cramping. 10/15 I was spotting. THen on 10/16 bad cramps. 10/28 I had very bad cramping and back pain. I was due for my period on 10/29 and nothing came.
It is now November and I am 3 weeks late today and have taken 7 pregnancy tests and they are all negative. On 11/17 I felt cramping and I was spotting. It felt as if my period was coming and still nothing. ON 11/18 I was also cramping and spotting but it was pink not red. I took a preg test this morning with 1st morn urine and preg test still negative. I go to the GYN on 11/21 to get a blood test. I dont know what is wrong with my body. I have preg symptoms like headaches, fatigue and my breast were sore for 2 weeks straight feeling full and engorged. What should I do?
Best thing to do is stay calm and wait for your GYN visit. They'll probably do the test and give you an exam. Maybe in the same visit. They will do their best to try to figure out what is causing the problem.
It could be something along the lines of your cycle being imbalanced due to the Depo shot. After I had my first, we discussed me taking Depo, but it would have made it harder to plan another child when we wanted.
Once you stop Depo, it can take up to a year for you to be fertile enough to become pregnant again.
However, you can still become pregnant once you stop the treatment, as well.
The filmy discharge COULD have been caused do to hormonal changes, also because of you not taking the shot. Kind of like the discharge during pregnancy that is due to hormonal changes.
Headaches, fatigue, and sore breasts are also menstrual symptoms. It could be that you are getting ready to start your period, which stress can delay. (I'd say you've been stressing- 7 tests...)
I have two babies, 21 months and 8 months old. After post natal bleeding, my periods came regularly, if not a week early on occasion. Both were born by c-section.
The only form of birth control after my first was condoms, and after my youngest was born, I had a tubal ligation. But I was most likely still regular due to the fact that I didn't take hormonal birth control.
So my guess is that your birth control is what is effecting your menstrual cycle.
Boy, that was long winded!
Good luck to you, and try not to stress and worry. Believe me when I say I know how hard it is not to.
