MODERNDURATION answered Wednesday November 12 2008, 4:02 pm:
every girls body works differently which mean their periods act differently as well due to certain circumstances such as stress, diet, sex, possibly an outcome to a new medication you are using, etc. I dont think its anything to worry about its just the fact your irregular i know a majority of my friends have had this issue and if it is interfering with your life possibly birth control might be an option. I would not be too concerned over the matter, if it keeps occurring regularly i would make a trip to the gyno just to make sure everything is working properly.

and below is a link you can check hope it helps you out with any other questions you may have.

Being on your period for only 5 day's sounds normal since that is how long i am on mine for. Talk to your doctor. and Birth control can help regulate your period.
