Okay, so, I'm young.
And no, it's SO not easy to lose weight, or, at least not for me.
I've been somewhat overweight all my life - in fact, the last time I was even relatively skinny, I was about 5 going into Kindgergarden, which is sad.
I don't even KNOW what it feels like to be that way.
I'm 13, going on 14 February 8th.
I've tried everything, diets, working out, even pills.
I really like this guy, and I wanna change to get more of his attention.
I also want to be like everyone else, and be healthy and happy, and actually not gag when I look in the mirror.
I don't really think I eat A LOT, I guess it's just what I eat and how much.
IF at all possible, I REALLY need a plan, diet rules and all that, because I. Am. Clueless.
I will owe you my life if you could help me at all.
PLEASEEE, Help.
I'd like fast results (ofcourse, we 13 year olds LOVE instant gratification) but seriously, before my 8th grade year is over and I start High School.
PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEEEE<3
and Thank you in advance(:!
Much love<33 :D

Siren_Cytherea answered Saturday November 8 2008, 10:35 am: Wow, you sound exactly like me when I was your age. All this stuff I'm gonna tell you is from personal experience. I'm in the best shape of my life, and this is what I (still) do.
Before I say anything else, let me tell you that to be really healthy, you need a healthy lifestyle. That means no short-term miracle diets, and you need to start exercising, whether it's a walk around your neighborhood every day or a ten mile jog (but I wouldn't start with the latter). A healthy lifestyle needs to be something you can keep up without much effort. So, since it's impossible for even health freaks like me to never touch chocolate again, don't cut ANYTHING out of your diet.
ANNNNNNNNYTHING. Eat half a cup of your favorite ice cream after dinner, even.
The trick to healthy eating is moderation. Not one pea, one grape, and one crumb, but small, single servings of things.
Also, you're thirteen. You can easily retrain your metabolism to work harder and faster. Part of that is exercise, but we'll get to that in a second.
To retrain your metabolism...(and this is the fun part,) eat small meals every three hours. Small meals could be anything from a bowl of cottage cheese and a peach to a chicken breast with a side of whole grain pasta and a small salad. Time yourself. If you're used to eating three big meals a day, you may not be hungry every three hours. Eat something anyway. That way your body can go, "Dude, what? Food? Again? Oh shit, better start absorbing it!" So then you eat something small, and your body gets ready for the next small serving.
One thing you must, must, MUST be wary of is your calorie count. Don't count to get fewer calories (unless you're eating 3,000 calories every day), count to get between 1,500 and 2,000.
Do yourself a favor and go find an on line Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) calculator. Not BMI. If you exercise at all, BMIs are inaccurate. (ex: I'm 5'4" and 125 - but my measurements are 34 26 34. I'm really skinny because I run, and I have a lot of muscle mass because I used to lift weights every day with my guyfriends)
Oh, also, if you must drink soda, drink diet soda. Use skim milk if you drink milk. Get rid of whipped cream on top of your coffee (if you drink coffee at 13, I dunno. I think I did, but I can't remember.)
Anyway, continuing. I know this is a lot to take in, but I'm gonna try to sum it up as best I can.
As for the exercising. If you want to get rid of body fat, you gotta buckle down and do some cardio. That is, anything that gets your heart pumping. If you have a gym nearby, check out the treadmills, elliptical machines, stair climbers, etc. If not, start dragging a friend or two to go with you on walks around your neighborhood, or your city if you're up for it. I biked around my city once with my friend. We were exhausted, but it was really fun.
But for the love of whatever's up there/god, PLEASE don't push yourself too hard. When I first started running, I went three miles alternating running, sprints, and speedwalking on an indoor track every day, and gave myself a stress fracture that (my doctor said) would've broken clean through my bone if I'd run another lap.
Push yourself a little, but never do more than half an hour of cardio to start, and aim for two to three times a week at first. Then increase. You wanna get to 5 times a week, maybe 6, but don't do every day. Your body needs one day at least to heal up and recharge.
As I said, I know this was a lot to take in, so if you have any questions, feel free to drop one in my inbox, or go to my webpage.
Keep this stuff up and I promise you'll get the results you want.
Good luck!

es answered Friday November 7 2008, 11:29 pm: I guarantee if you start now, and stay positive, and don't give up, you'll see results sooner than your birthday. And if you need support ever, i'm here because i went through the same thing.
First you need a good diet (yuck! i know). It doesn't have to be bad though. You can enjoy it. You get to decide what you want to minimize out of your diet, sugars or fats. Minimizing the intake of either one will help you. If it's sugars, don't eat candy, no sodas (unless diet sweetened with substitutes like splenda, although water is the best solution). if you don't want plain water, try the sugar free lemonade or tea flavored poweders that mix into water, they really help with the flavor. If you decide to cut out fat, you need to minimize the amount of bread intake. For snacks or for when you feel hungry, there are great puddings that you can get at walmart or local store that are sugar free and filling, just remember, cut out either sugar or fat and stick to it!
The best way to lose weight is to minimize the amount of carbs you consume. It really works miracles. And how do you tell how many carbs you're consuming? The label haha.
Fruits, Vegetables, basically any greens are healthy! eat them! enjoy them! salads can be delicious! some lettuce, sliced lean chicken, light ceasar dressing and you've got a ceasar salad. or, lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber and italian dressing and you've got a garden salad.
Exercise....we all hate it. Remember even a little bit of exercise a day will help. What worked for me was doing 3 sets of 25 crunches a day. So basically in the morning i'd do 25 crunches, wait 5 minutes and do another 25, wait another 5 minutes and do another 25. then repeat the same thing at night and noon. It seems like a lot, but it's not. it doesn't take a lot of time and your stomach WILL BENEFIT! They can be hard at first but after a day or two, it'll seem super easy!
Walking does miracles if you walk in a fast pace. I walk around my neighborhood every night a couple of times and that's part of my diet exercise plan. always keep moving! instead of sitting on the couch while watching tv, try doing the crunches at that time and watching tv, or walking in place.
Once you loose weight you'll feel good, however you might hit a plateau. Don't give up! All it means is that your body has gotten used to the way you changed it's meal plan so minimize the intake of something else, instead of sugar eliminate fat or vice versa. Its kind of like tricking your body.
HOPE I HELPED. GOOD LUCK. IF YOU NEED ANY SUPPORT MESSAGE ME OR IM ME, my s/n is xxes25
mizzlauren41 answered Friday November 7 2008, 11:26 pm: well i am/was in that position, but im 14. and yes i still do love instant gratification, but thats not how life works especially weight loss. okay so that last time i was skinny was probably around five too. but recently i lost 13 pounds in the range of a month or two. it may not sound like much, but it adds up. kay so what i did was cut out ALL soda. i drink water everysingle day and i only have a DIET soda on a friday, saturday, OR sunday. so basically a DIET soda ONCE a week, to reward myself. for breakfast i have this Nestle Nutrition Carnation Breakfast drink because im on the go in the mornings (hey its bad enough i have to wake up at 6) i get chocolate (low fat) and i drink a cup of milk a day. k so i bring my lunch to school everyday, ya its a pain, but its WAY better than eating school crap. so what i bring is a water bottle a sandwhich with WHOLE GRAIN bread (now you may not like it because before i started eating it i know i didnt lol but theres basically like wo kinds of whole grain to me and this is how i see it: brown bread with nuts -icky-unless you like it- and brown regular bread). now i didnt like it at all but i had to say to myself, how bad do i want to be thin? i said that everyday until i got used to it so one day i would have a sandwhich with ham, low fat mayo, and cheese. the next day i would have whole wheat bread with low fat peanut butter and lowfat jelly. then the next day i would have whole wheat bread with turkey, low fat mayo, and cheese. now, with the sandwhich and water i would have a small green apple EVERYDAY (if you dont like apples try a different fruit but try not replace it with any kind of berry) k with that i would have a 100 calorie chip bag (only 1) and a 100 calorie cookie bag (only 1) so basically it hardcore portion control. then thats my lunch and then when i get home everyday at 3 i eat a salad (with lettuce and low fat dressing but only about a teaspoon full) and then at 7 i eat a piece of chicken (1 piece, baked) with green beans and thats it. i do this everysingle day. then at 9 im off to bed. so i get 9 hours of sleep every night, which is very important. now this happens to me so it may happen to you: between each meal/snack i ALWAYS seem to want to eat because im bored but instead i chew a piece of sugar free gum and i try not to think of it. kay now im sure you wondering what about the exorcise?? well im in highschool so im in dance an hour and ahalf a day plus going up and down stairs multiple times or walking back and forth from campuse to campus. soooo thats basically my exorcise. BUT there is this other 1 exorcise i do its called a suicide. where you jump up and touch the "sky" and then jump down into push up position (if i confused you look it up) k so thats it now what happened to me was my face got A LOT thinner and then i lost A LOT of inches THEN i started losing actual pounds, but let me warn the pounds do take a month or two. because were both still you and our bodies are still trying to adjust PLUS having to switch diets. but i wouldnt advise you to check or weight everyday because im pretty sure it will discourage you like it did me, so just check like once a week. sooooo ya(: if i confused you at all (which i probably did, messege me) if you have any more questions i will be MORE THAN happy to answer them.
p.s. this is BY FAR the longest answer i have EVER given lmao(:
p.s.s. instead of having that dinnner, lean cuisine dinners play a HUGE part of my diet too.
(:
