xo_tragicglamour answered Thursday November 6 2008, 9:50 pm: Yes, but excercising is definitely a better idea. I'm an experienced runner and I know for a fact that running and taking in less calories is the best combination for losing weight. If you're excersising A LOT make sure your calorie intake is a little higher than normal. And less calories isn't a one-way ticket to weight loss. Less calories AND jogging or working out is. And eating just fat calories is not better than excercing by any means either. [ xo_tragicglamour's advice column | Ask xo_tragicglamour A Question ]

Considering calorie loss alone, choosing not to eat a hamburger is roughly equivalent to exercising for 2-3 hours. Dieting is much more effective than exercise.
However, an exercise routine will eventually cause you to burn more calories while at rest. For a long-term weight loss plan, diet *and* exercise is the best choice. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]
