Additional info, added Saturday November 1 2008, 11:23 pm: and how long do you have to wait to change the sizes?. Want to answer more questions in the Miscellaneous category? Maybe give some free advice about: Random Weirdos? batteredxdreams answered Sunday November 2 2008, 9:41 pm: What the girl said below me is correct about cleaning them. I just never did which is really bad but nothing happened. There's no set age to buy them either. You can also get them at Spencer's. Anyways, they're kind of expensive so what I did was I eventually started skipping normally every other size to save money. I started at a size fourteen. There wasn't much pain. Just like the other girl said, don't try to shove huge ones in your ears. If you want to do it properly, it should take a little while. I started at 14 in the summer before last and I'm at a 2 now. You can always go a bit quicker with putting in bigger ones than I did, just don't completely rush it. [ batteredxdreams's advice column | Ask batteredxdreams A Question ]

Don't skip sizes.
If you have a standard piercings size, it's most likely 18ga, so get 16ga tapers.
Don't buy a huge one and try to jam it in.
I'll say this bluntly.
It will fuck up your ear(s).
Change sizes when the current one isn't swollen, painful or red.
It should feel totally normal.
By that I mean COMPLETELY healed.
Also clean your gauged lobes at least once a day with salt water solution. Warm water and sea salt mixture. It should taste like tears :)
Or some mild antiseptic if you don't have seasalt in your house(don't use ordinary, fine grains food salt)
Hope this helped.
