Mystabcounter???

Question Posted Wednesday October 29 2008, 5:52 pm

Ok, well, i've only noticed this when I go to advicenators, but that's really the only time I've checked. Whenever i'm on, sometimes I click the "back" button and it takes FOREVER. So, the other day I went to the dropdown thing next to the "back" button and it showed on my history about 6 pages of something called "mystabcounter". I have no idea what it is or how it got on my history, but is it bad? how do I get rid of it? Nothing that I have noticed has been going wrong with my computer but I dunno what it does. Thanks!

---EDIT:

As per your question in feedback: You should scan with all of them, just to see what has been living on your machine.

I have seen machines that were scanned daily with the "big two" that had been infected for months or years with something they simply don't detect.

-----Original:

Mystabcounter is a trojan/spyware installer.

Please scan your machine with the usual tools:

AdAware free download:

SpyBot S&D free download:

TrendMicro's Housecall Anti Virus On-line virus/malware scanner - Can also be used with Firefox:

Panda Anti Virus On-line virus/malware scanner - This isn't compatible with Windows Vista:

Bit Defender On-line virus/malware scanner:

... And you may find a few things running around your machine you didn't expect. Most people do.

When you are using Spybot, go ahead and let it "immunize" your system. This will block known spyware installers like mystabcounter and many thousands of others.
